[The Face] The New Kids in Town #6

25.11.13

Someone has been naughty lately. I've been let loose into the world of wallet-denting the past several weeks. It's not even funny anymore. I've made a pact with another friend who has also created a crater in her bank account that we both would go on a spending ban till we see each other again in three weeks. I've made spending ban declarations before, but this time it's serious. Serious as in bold, CAPITAL letters SERIOUS. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I've been playing around with the newbies in my collection and here's one of the results.
[Jouer Matte Moisture Tint | Collection Lasting Perfecting Concealer | Burberry Beauty Sheer Concealer | Urban Decay Naked Basics | Sleek Blush in Rose Gold | Topshop Brow Pencil | L'Oreal Super Liner | Maybelline The Falsies Mascara Waterproof | Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balm]
Surprisingly, my skin has cleared up massively the past weeks. I still have a few scars and such, but nothing too severe. I'm still using up my sample of the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, but I already have a full tube begging to be used. I'll do a full review of my new favorite base soon, but in the meantime, let me just tell you: the hype is worth it. The coverage for this tinted moisturizer is exceptionally good, but as always, there are always going to be a few pinks poking through. While this isn't a new product, but only recently has the Collection Lasting Perfecting Concealer made it's way into the routine. I'm still on the fence about this but I can see why there's a hype around it. Another new kid in town that has quickly made it's way up to one of my favorite products is the Burberry Beauty Sheer Concealer. An Anya-enabled purchases, this concealer has knocked the rest of my concealers out of the playing field. It's incredibly light-weight but still manages to conceal everything while looking like I don't have any makeup on at all. No joke. My friend basically had her nose glued to my face trying to see any signs of product when I told her that I was wearing this little luxury babe.
The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is another senior in town, but an old dog can still learn new tricks. Instead of using this on the eyes, I've discovered that a mixture of Naked 2 and Faint is able to help me sculpt out something resembling cheekbones. The grey-ashey tone of Naked 2 creates the grey cast of a shadow while Faint gives the color more depth. I mean, if I can contour my eye with this palette, why can't I use it on the face? I've mentioned this more than once, I'm allergic to NARS blushes. While it's good on the wallet, it's slightly heartbreaking that I'm not able to dip my toes into the gorgeous colors. Thankfully, Sleek Blush in Rose Gold is allegedly, a dupe for the infamous Orgasm without the raunchy name. [Side note] let's talk about Orgasm for a minute. I'm 90% convinced that the person who came up with the name Orgasm, Deep Throat and such, just wanted a perverted laugh at the thought of customers going up to the sales people and saying "I would like an Orgasm." [End side note]
After seeing tutorial after tutorial and the cat eye flick going down the catwalk like it's no one's business, I finally broke and decided to give liquid liners another chance. The L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim was my weapon of choice for the day. And surprisingly, I had no trouble matching up the flicks. Of course, about a dozen Q-tips were involved in the process, but I'm still chalking up not spending over an hour to perfect the flicks to beginner's luck. We'll see how it goes next time. After seeing the Mascara Battle post on Kallie's blog, I was reminded of my love for the Maybelline Falsies Mascara. To finish things up and add a bit of color to the look, I quickly applied the new(ish) Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush in Rumour Has It. A red that's leaning onto the scale of fuchsia, it's a color that I'm okay to wear to school.
I can't say I regret any of the products that I've bought lately. But with the rotation of these new products and silently crying at the huge crater in my bank account, I think my shopping motivation has slightly been curbed for the moment being. Emily, we need to make it through these several weeks.
Have you made enough purchases recently to create a full look?

PS. I'm not really this pale. The light was washing me out. And there was the slight problem of the white balance. Oops.
PPS. The first photo was a more accurate representation of my complexion.
